Privacy Policy
The short version
- Shinobu has no account and no sign-up.
- Your vow, habits, history and settings are stored on your iPhone. We don’t have a copy.
- There are no ads, no tracking and no selling of data.
- Payments go through Apple. We never see your card details.
This policy explains what information the Shinobu app (“Shinobu”, “we”, “us”) handles and why. It applies to the Shinobu iPhone app and this website, getshinobu.app.
What stays on your phone
Everything you put into Shinobu is saved in the app’s storage on your device:
- your vow, including the signature you draw;
- your habits, reminders and training plan;
- your daily check-ins, days trained, ranks and history;
- your settings and preferences.
This information is not sent to us or to anyone else. It is used only to run the app on your phone. If you use iCloud or computer backups of your iPhone, Apple may include the app’s data in those backups under Apple’s own terms.
The Home Screen and Lock Screen widget
If you add the Shinobu widget, the app shares your day count, today’s progress, streak, rank and vow progress with the widget through storage on your device. This stays on your phone.
Notifications
Reminders are scheduled on your device. If you turn them on, iOS shows them at the times you choose. We don’t run a server that sends you messages.
Photos
If you choose to save a card, Shinobu asks for permission to add images to your photo library. It uses that permission only to save the card you asked to save. It does not read or upload your photos.
Sharing
When you share a card, Shinobu opens the iOS share sheet and you choose where it goes. Once you share it, the app or person you send it to handles it under their own policies.
Purchases
Shinobu Pro is sold through Apple’s App Store. Apple handles payment and stores your payment details; we never receive them. Apple confirms to the app whether you have an active purchase so Pro features can unlock. To manage or cancel a subscription, go to Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions.
Analytics, ads and tracking
Shinobu does not show ads, does not track you across other apps or websites, and does not sell or share your personal information.
When you contact us
If you email us at [email protected], we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply and help you, and we delete it when it’s no longer needed.
This website
getshinobu.app is a simple information site. It sets no cookies and has no analytics. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and to keep the site running. Fonts load from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when your browser downloads them.
Your choices and your data
- See or export it: in the app, open Profile, then Export my data.
- Delete it: in the app, open Profile, then Delete all data. Deleting the app also removes its data from your phone.
- Notifications and photos: you can turn these permissions on or off at any time in your iPhone’s Settings.
Because we don’t hold your data, we can’t view, change or recover it for you. Depending on where you live (for example, the EU, UK or California), you may have rights to access or delete personal data. For anything we do hold, such as support emails, contact us and we’ll help.
Children
Shinobu is meant for people aged 13 and over. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since the app doesn’t collect personal information at all, nothing about a child is sent to us through it. If you think a child has emailed us, contact us and we’ll delete the message.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Shinobu handles data (for example, by adding new features), we’ll update this page and the effective date above before the change takes effect. Significant changes will also be noted in the app.
